PhD Requirements

The Department offers a PhD program with a focused area of study in early modern British literature and culture through the Hudson Strode Program. We provide advanced training in Renaissance studies for a select cohort of students who pursue their research interests through an individually tailored plan of study.

All requirements for the PhD program wtih a focused area of study in early modern British literature and culture are the same as those for the Literature PhD program. Like all PhD students, Strode students generally choose to take as many courses related to their field of study as possible, including the Strode Seminar and the Shakespeare in Performance Practicum (offered in alternate years).

Visit the UA Graduate Catalog for information about the PhD program, including degree and course requirements.
