MA Requirements

The Department offers an MA in English Literature with a a focused area of study in early modern British literature and culture through the Strode Program. This plan of study offers students the unique opportunity to specialize in Renaissance studies at the master’s level. MA students may elect a thesis or a comprehensive exam to complete their course of study.

Coursework

The MA with a focused aread of study in British literature and culture requires thirty hours of graduate coursework, including Intro to Graduate Studies, the Strode Seminar, the Shakespeare in Performance Practicum, a theory seminar, and elective courses in Medieval and Renaissance literature.  Individual courses may be substituted in the plan of study with approval from the Director of the Strode Program.

EN 533 and FWP orientation are conditions of employment for all graduate students who are teachers of record for EN 1xx courses.

All other requirements for the MA are the same as those for the MA literature program.
