Folger Shakespeare Library

The University of Alabama is a member of The Folger Institute. Students and faculty in early modern studies at The University of Alabama are eligible to participate in the Institute’s many cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary workshops and seminars, designed to enhance particpants’ research interests.

Strode students have been consistently successful at gaining admission to and funding for highly competitive Folger programs. Our graduate students have participated in “Researching the Archives,” a year-long dissertation seminar directed by David Scott Kastan and Keith Wrightson; “Mastering Research Methods at the Folger,” a semester-long seminar for MA students; and “Forms of Religious Experience in the 17th-Century British Atlantic World,” a year-long colloquium for advanced graduate students and faculty directed by David D. Hall and Laura Lunger Knoppers, among other programs.
